INTUS 3450 with the design of the Porsche Holding
| | PCS provides Porsche Holding Austria with a comprehensive solution for mySAP ERP-based time & attendance recording, access control and cafeteria data management, featuring superior design and peak technological performance.
Proactive, future-oriented thinking, technical leadership, first-class products and maximum customer focus – these are some of the attributes commonly associated with Porsche Holding Austria.
This was one of the reasons why the company’s system for time & attendance recording and access control, which was getting on in years, had to be replaced by an advanced and future-proof solution. The new system will initially be used at the company’s Salzburg headquarters and various other locations throughout Austria and then expanded step by step in the next few years. Following a very intensive selection process, Austria’s largest automobile distributor opted for the solution offered by Munich-based PCS Systemtechnik GmbH, a system comprising DEXICON ACCESS software and INTUS terminals which have won numerous industry awards.
A basic prerequisite for Porsche’s decision was the efficient and standardized connection of the data acquisition hardware to the mySAP ERP personnel management system already deployed. At system launch on 1 January 2007, about 2,000 Porsche Holding employees among the total staff of approx. 17,000 will work with the new concept using SAP master data as the basis for time & attendance recording, access control and cafeteria data management. “The concept and technology behind PCS’s DEXICON ACCESS software has thoroughly convinced us,” said Michael Liebminger, General Project Manager for Porsche Holding. A clear distinction between Human Resources and Real-Estate Management has been achieved by upstream processing master data from SAP in DEXICON ACCESS. Thus day-to-day maintenance requirements for the group’s HR department are minimized and usually only comprise activities in the familiar SAP environment.
In addition to the integration of time & attendance recording and access control, the various requirements for the processing of cafeteria data also posed a special challenge. Among other things, the INTUS 3450 time & attendance recording terminal was configured to allow advance booking of meals so that employees can now specify their lunch requests while clocking in at the terminal each morning. This ensures planning reliability for Porsche Holding and the cafeteria operator, a feature that had been painfully missed before. Even the handing out of meals is facilitated because the cafeteria staff now always has current information on all the meals ordered and handed out.
From a technological point of view, Porsche Holding entirely relies on PCS products for its time & attendance recording and access control needs, including INTUS 3450 time & attendance recording terminals with ergonomic matrix touch keyboard and INTUS 400 access readers, each customized to the corporate design. The readers interface to a powerful INTUS ACM8 Acess Control Manager in 19" rack-mount design and equipped with a comprehensive security package. “The fact that our very demanding requirements have been met with a fast, trouble-free and competent implementation increase the acceptance of the new system with our employees and the management of the group. The flexible and high-quality PCS terminals fit optimally with the corporate culture we live by,” concluded Michael Liebminger.
