PCS has been awarded with a bronze medal in the category "Technology & Products" for its innovative palm vein authentification reader INTUS PS, thus showing again its leading position as an innovative company in the field of security.
For the first time this year, the trade fair Security has confered the Security Innovation Award. Over 70 companies have applied to be candidates for the Security Innovation Award. With the prize, the fair Security will honour pioneering developments in the categories "Technology & Products" and "Services and Marketing".
PCS has been awarded with a bronze medal in the category "Technology & Products" for its innovative palm vein authentification reader INTUS PS. PCS is showing again its leading position as an innovative company in the field of security.
To apply the palm vein authentification in a biometric access reader, the problem had to be solved to find the best protection for the palmsecure-sensor of Fujitsu. The sensor sends infrared-radiation outward and is so blinding itself if using common glass covers. The solution - developped by PCS and applicated for patent - is using a curved glass dome with a special internal protection reliably preventing interfering reflexions.
The access reader for palm vein authentification is available as a complete system or as a reader module to integrate in other terminals.
The principle of palm vein recognition.
Palm vein recognition is based on the absorption of infrared radiation (heat radiation) in venous blood. The sensor transmits infrared close range radiation towards the palms. The oxygen-reduced blood in the veins absorbs the infrared rays. The sensor camera creates an image of the vein pattern and converts it to a template with a file size of approx. 0.8 kB. The template is then saved to a database (for identification) or to a card or tag (for verification).
INTUS PS palm vein recognition now combines all the required functionality in a single solution. It’s extremely precise and secure (FAR: 0.00008%, FRR: 0.01%), it ensures high user acceptance thanks to its contact-free, hygienic scanning method, and it is virtually fraud-proof.
