INTUS ACM8e Access Control Manager: quickly installed in a rack or on a wall

The Access Control Manager is the heart of every access system. It releases or blocks all the connected doors or turnstiles as instructed by a control system. The INTUS ACM8e, PCS's new Access Control Manager, is now available in two versions: as a rack device for installation in a 19" rack, or as a wall-mounted device for direct on-site installation.

Equipped with a powerfull 500 MHz AMD LX800 CPU, the INTUS ACM8e ensures the reliable and exceedingly fast management of up to 16 connected access readers even when working with complex applications and large data inventories.

It goes without saying that either version comes with a three-tier security package consisting of an integrated firewall, encryption and a multi-level password system. The hierarchical password system has three levels and makes sure that certain settings can only be made by specifically authorized users. The integrated firewall controls which computers are allowed to access the Access Control Manager. And the encryption system guarantees the confidentiality of all data.

Individually optically decoupled interfaces ensure a high degree of system security. If a voltage surge occurs on one line and causes damage to a reader, all the other connected readers will keep on working safely. The connected readers and door openers are energized directly from the Access Control Manager (12 VDC or 24 VDC supply). This eliminates the need for complex cabling with separate power supply systems for the door openers or RFID readers and ensures quick and cost-efficient installation. The ACM8e supports all types of PCS access readers using magnetic card, barcode and chipcard technologies, RFID readers such as Mifare, Hitag, Legic and EM4002/4102 (Miro) as well as biometric fingerprint readers. Local area and time profiles allow comprehensive master data administration upgradeable to 79,000 master records and 71,000 bookings using a storage expansion option.

The INTUS ACM8e-R is designed in 19" rack technology with a very compact housing that measures only 2 height units (HU). Cables are conveniently installed via a front patch panel including LED status monitoring of all readers and doors. All the interfaces for ID readers, the host connection etc. are accessible on the front so that the device is ideally suited for installation in a standard 19" rack.

The INTUS ACM8e-W is a classic wall-mounted device cabled via pluggable screw-type terminals inside the housing.

With further features such as alarm interfaces for vandalism, a burglar alarm system interface, Ethernet TcP/IP or RS 485/RS232C networking, the INTUS ACM8e is the perfect security component for decentralized access control.
