Pretty safe: INTUS 5300FP time& attendance recording terminal with fingerprint sensor :: 2008-02-26 15:23

The INTUS 5300FP time & attendance recording terminal is now available with optional high-performance fingerprint reader located below the terminal for enhanced user ergonomics.

The INTUS 5300 time & attendance recording terminal with its conspicuous "MagicEye" multifunctional indicator can now be optionally euqipped with a high-performance fingerprint reader. Blending in with the terminal's award-winning design, the fingerprint reading unit is ergonomically located below the terminal. By default, the terminal is configured with an integrated RFID reader and numeric keypad so that persons temporarily or permanently unable to use a fingerprint sensor can still log in. It is also possible to combine fingerprint, RFID card and PIN identification for special applications with increased security requirements such as payment or access control.

The INTUS 5300FP fingerprint terminal incorporates a capacitive sensor with a resolution of more than 500dpi which even meets the strict requirements according to HSPD-12 (Homeland Security Presidential Directive). Moreover, it is certified according to FIPS-201 (Federal Information Precoessing Standard) and conforms to the NIST SP 800-76 standard (National Institute of Standards and Technology). It has a high resistance to electrostatic charging (max. 15 kV).

For identification purposes, the INTUS 5300FP stores up to 4,000 templates and up to 10 fingers per person. This means that a special function can be assigned to each finger of a person, such as "administrator finger", "threat finger", "training finger" or "standard access finger". Many fingerprint readers fail to identify persons with very large or small fingers or worn fingertips. Fur such issues, the INTUS 5300FP allows storing up to 10 templates for each finger which significantly improves idenitification accuracy.

The fingerprint soluation can be used both for identification purposes and for verification against an RFID card (Mifare or Legic).
