INTUS PS palm vein authentication integrated with Wanzl Galaxy Gate at the Erfurt Theater.
INTUS PS palm vein authentication uses an infrared camera to capture and match the vein pattern in an extremely fast and reliable recognition process that starts even while the user’s hand is still moving towards the sensor. Clients relying on this system include the Erfurt Theater in Erfurt, Germany, which employs a staff of around 800. Three Wanzl Galaxy Gates installed side by side at the employee entrance make sure that only theater staff are admitted to the work areas and rehearsal spaces. There is no gatekeeper to check badges. Instead, theater workers use one of the two identification methods offered by the Galaxy Gates: an integrated RFID card reader or – even more user-friendly – INTUS PS palm vein authentication, a self-explanatory and convenient method that simply requires a person to present their palm to the sensor. Employees leaving the building for a short errand or cigarette break don’t have to remember taking their badge – they will always have their hand with them. The technology is appealing, agreeable and absolutely fraud-resistant.
Verification against a card for individual data protection.
To overcome reservations against the biometric storage of personal data, this type of data can be held on an employee’s individual ID card only. For this method of “verification”, first the access card is read and then the palm vein pattern. The palm vein pattern is subsequently matched against the biometric template stored on the card. There is no central storage of biometric data – a big plus for individual data protection.
PCS presents broad portfolio for networked building security with or without biometrics.
In addition to the access reader integrated with Wanzl’s Galaxy Gate, PCS will present a broad portfolio of hardware and software products for access control and time recording at the light+building. In smart building security projects, online and offline access readers are almost invariably combined to cover all application scenarios. PCS complements the portfolio with access readers for special installation conditions such as intercom columns or the metal environment in an elevator. DEXICON access control software connects all the access components and orchestrates the various installations for access control, video surveillance, elevator control, vehicle access control and alarm systems.
