PCS and Design: the Present.

The design of all PCS terminals and access readers from 2001 onwards was created by ergon3 Munich. In the meantime, miniaturization has advanced further and challenging possibilities arise in the use of new materials and substances, with special consideration of ecological aspects.

Optically, this has had the greatest impact on the modern combination of display and keyboard to touch screen, optical signalling and the convenient RFID identification technology. It is important not to simply blindly follow market trends in the consumer sector. High-gloss touchscreens can lead to almost unsolvable reflection problems with wall-mounted terminals. Visually impaired employees, on the other hand, are better served by a tactile membrane keyboard than by a fashionable touchscreen. This is where Horatio Greenough's good old rule applies: form follows function.
