The INTUS terminal family. 40 years of experience included
History of the INTUS terminal family
For four decades, PCS has been developing and manufacturing terminals for time recording, access control, shop floor/data collection (BDE/MDE), and point of information (POI). The consistent terminal concept has, since then and into the future, provided a suitable solution for every requirement. The INTUS philosophy is user-focused, flexible, and future-oriented.

PCS computers were, by the mid-1980s, part of a purely German CAD-CAM-CIM integration solution configured with the PROREN CAD system from Ruhr University Bochum, the EXAPT CNC system from Aachen, and a database. While Apollo Computers was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 1989, the CADMUS systems remained on the market until the mid-1990s. After various acquisitions in the early 1990s by Mannesmann, Digital Equipment, and Kienzle, PCS became independent again in 1996 through a management buy-out and was reestablished as PCS Systemtechnik GmbH. PCS then focused on design-oriented INTUS terminal systems for time recording, access control, and shop floor data collection. In 2007, PCS acquired a stake in Convision, a video surveillance manufacturer based in Braunschweig, thereby expanding its access control portfolio to include video surveillance solutions.

PCT 880 industrial terminal
In the 1980s, PCS developed the CADMUS Workstations (for technical-scientific applications) and microcomputers (for commercial applications), based on the Motorola 68000 and MIPS architectures, along with the UNIX-based operating system MUNIX, which was developed specifically for this purpose. The CADMUS workstations were, for a long time, the only alternative to the American UNIX workstations from Sun Microsystems and Apollo Computers, and were awarded the Electronics Innovation Prize in 1985. Parallel to the CADMUS family, the first INTUS terminals for shop floor data collection were developed. In 1985, PCS founded CADMUS COMPUTER SYSTEMS in the United States to market the CADMUS workstations on the American market.
1983
PCT 880

CADMUS Workstation
In early 1970, the company PCS – Periphere Computer Systeme was founded in Munich by brothers Georg Färber and Eberhard Färber, with the aim of developing peripheral systems for IBM’s technical-scientific computers, as well as process control solutions based on the PDP-8 and PDP-11 systems from Digital Equipment Corporation. In 1973, PCS launched the first German "one-board computer," which enabled the creation of intelligent terminals for process and laboratory data acquisition.
