The INTUS 1600PS-II hand vein scanner
Access with substance: security that gets under your skin
The increasing security requirements in data centres, public authorities and KRITIS facilities require solutions that go beyond conventional access control. The palm vein scanner access control with Fujitsu PalmSecure technology offers a tamper-proof and hygienic alternative to easily stolen cards or key fobs. The palm vein scanner utilises the individual palm vein pattern in the palm of the hand for precise identification - regardless of skin contamination or external influences. And it can be flexibly integrated into existing access systems.
The INTUS 1600PS-II combines user-friendliness with maximum security through simple, non-contact scanning of the palm. The integrated infrared sensors recognise the unique vein pattern under the skin - a biometric feature that cannot be copied or stolen. The system supports both verification and identification modes.
The INTUS PS Head Unit is available for integration into third-party systems and space-saving installation in turnstiles, columns or wall panels.
The most important facts in brief
- Highly secure authentication system
- Exceptionally accurate sensor
- Precise identification with minimal error rate
- Ideal for security-critical areas such as KRITIS and public authorities
- For verification against card or identification
- Works independently of skin contamination
- Integration into INTUS access control solutions
- Can be integrated into access control systems from other manufacturers
Companies that rely on PCS for their access control needs
The VdS guidelines stipulate two-factor authentication for increased security requirements in high-security wings and data centres. Here, palm vein scanners in combination with a card or PIN ensure the highest possible level of security.
The vein scanner uses a near-infrared sensor to capture the hand vein pattern.
- Hand vein pattern is unique, cannot be copied
- Highly accurate and tamper-proof - FAR 0.00008%
- Privacy friendly - encrypted storage
The INTUS 1600PS palm vein reader is part of the PCS access control system. Hand-held vein scanners, surface-mounted and flush-mounted RFID readers, locking cylinders or long-range readers for outdoor areas thus become a comprehensive protection system for company premises.
With a weather protection roof, heater and hand guide, the INTUS 1600PS-II hand-held vein scanner is also equipped for outdoor use down to -25 °C and +50 °C.
Also available as a standalone solution.
INTUS PS Head Unit-3 can be installed in turnstiles and access columns. This allows you to combine biometric access control with individualisation systems. The Head Unit is also available for installation in Siedle columns.
The PS Controller VI controls two palm vein readers on doors or interlocks. It is stand-alone capable and can be integrated in a variety of ways (connection via Ethernet, OSDP, Wiegand or LBus).
The following two methods are possible for access control with biometrics:
Verification (1 : 1)
Here, the biometric feature - for example the fingerprint - is used to confirm an already known identity, for example in combination with an RFID card or a PIN. This two-factor authentication offers a high level of security, which is particularly important in high-security areas. PCS recommends this approach wherever maximum security and unambiguous access control are required.
Identification (1 : N)
In this case, the biometric feature is used as the sole identifier - e.g. with the fingerprint access reader. This method is particularly user-friendly and convenient as no card or PIN is required and the finger cannot be forgotten. This method is ideal for smaller access control systems. However, some people may have reservations about the storage of biometric data. One solution here is the combination of card and biometrics, in which the biometric information is only stored locally on the personal card in a highly encrypted form.
"A total of 12 INTUS 1600PS palm vein readers were installed at all doors and gates of the air cargo-relevant areas in the Richard Wolf logistics center in Knittlingen – from the warehouse’s rolling gates to the stairwell of the office wing. The palm vein recognition meets the highest security standards and has worked well from the very beginning.."
